United Reduces London Flights To/From Los Angeles And Washington DC

Sadly, United Airlines have reduced some flight schedules to/from London Heathrow (LHR) and Los Angeles (LAX) or Washington DC (IAD) as of October 2024. They haven’t made any announcement about it.

This comes after they recently announced they are adding eight more cities in their largest international expansion, but they didn’t say they would reduce services elsewhere.
The eight new cities they are flying to are; Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island, Portugal; Faro, Portugal and Dakar, Senegal.

Flight Changes:

London Heathrow (LHR) – Los Angeles (LAX) reduce from two flights to one flight a day, removing the morning flight as of November 2024

London Heathrow (LHR) – Washington DC (IAD) reduce from three flights to two flights per day, removing the morning flight as of June 2025.

I always recommend giving feedback to companies if they make changes that you don’t like that affect you, so definitely reach out to United Airlines and tell them if you miss the morning flights that have been removed. They only know people are unhappy if they tell them and all companies appreciate feedback.
You can do this via their website form or social media such as X/Twitter or Facebook.

As someone who loves United and uses this flight service to Los Angeles, I am very disappointed and will mean I will most likely end up flying with Virgin. I do prefer United, but with just one flight a day, they aren’t as attractive as they were to myself.
I always fly in the morning internationally due to time zone, so I don’t land at night as I always have a long drive after landing. This is why I will end up using Virgin again instead of United due to this flight reduction to Los Angeles. I know a lot of people flying internationally prefer morning flights too.

What are your thoughts on this change? Will it affect you?
