How To Choose The Best Luggage

Traveling is a really exciting experience, but choosing the right luggage can make all the difference in your journey and can really save you a headache.
With so many options available on the market, it can be overwhelming to find the best luggage for your needs so in this blog post, I will guide you through some of the things you should consider when choosing luggage.

  1. Size and Capacity
The first thing to consider when choosing luggage is size and capacity. The size of your luggage will depend on how long you plan to travel and how much you want to carry. If you’re taking a short trip, you may only need a small carry-on bag. However, if you’re going on a long trip or traveling with family, you’ll need a larger bag or suitcase. Make sure to check the airline’s baggage allowance before choosing your luggage to avoid additional fees as they all vary between airlines.
  2. Durability
You need to make sure you choose something durable and sturdy that can withstand wear and tear. Hard-shell suitcases made of polycarbonate or ABS plastic are more durable and can protect your belongings from impact and scratches. However, soft-shell suitcases made of nylon or polyester are lighter and easier to carry.
  3. Wheels and Handles
Another important factor to consider is the luggage’s wheels and handles. A suitcase with four double spinner wheels provides better manoeuvrability and stability, making it easier to navigate through crowded airports or streets and also helps remove a bit of the weight you are pulling as you feel more weight when you pull a two wheel than when you roll a 4 wheel next to you. It is a big difference once you have tried both.
  4. Compartments and Pockets
Having compartments and pockets in your luggage can help keep your belongings organized and easily accessible. Choose a suitcase with multiple compartments, zippered pockets, and mesh dividers to keep your items separate and secure.
  5. Security Features
Make sure you consider the luggage’s security features to keep your belongings safe during travel. If you plan to ever visit the USA, look for suitcases with built-in TSA-approved locks that can keep your luggage secure while allowing airport security to inspect your bags if necessary. TSA locks mean they can open your bags without damaging the lock as they have special TSA keys.
Some luggage also comes with RFID-blocking technology that prevents identity theft.
  6. Smart Luggage
Smart luggage is something you are seeing a lot of, BUT a lot of airlines will not allow them due to their battery which is not allowed in the hold. If you do get smart luggage, make sure you get one that lets you remove the battery, otherwise if you are flying with an airline that doesn’t allow it, such as Delta and many more, you won’t be allowed to take that case in the hold. So either avoid smart luggage or get it with a removal battery.
I personally wouldn’t ever get smart luggage. An airtag is much more useful and it is allowed!

Choosing the best luggage can make a huge difference in your travel experience.
Just make sure you think of all the different aspects of your travel and needs so that you don’t get something that you will have to replace quickly. Invest in something sturdy that will last you many years!
