Travelling While I Can Before Chronic Illness Leaves Me Bedbound
Being chronically ill and disabled with my illnesses, means that one day I will go back to being bedbound, but on a permanent basis this time.
This won’t be for some years, but it could happen at any time, although I would think it would be a few years in the future. My chronic illnesses get worse over time and my health deteriorates as time passes.
So I want to travel as much as I can, while I physically still can!
I don’t have much money, but I travel on a budget normally anyway, plus I use housesitting in some situations too. Main expense is flights and transport, as I don’t eat much and can find cheap accommodation. Hard when you have no money, but travel is my passion and one day in the not too distant future, I won’t be able to do it anymore. So I am doing it now, while I can.
I really want to record more by getting a GoPro or Insta360 camera, and using it to record all my drives and any walks I do on vacation!
OK, so I know I don’t walk very far as I physically can’t due to disability, but I still want to record any walking that I do as well as from the car so I can record all the scenic drives I do.
Even just recording my view of me standing looking over an overlook would be amazing! I love nature and wildlife so much.
The sad part is though, that I would never be able to afford a GoPro or Insta360. Never ever!
I can’t work at all, so I live on just a few hundred pounds a month and I can’t get a penny more. Trust me, I tried for many years and even blogged on my chronic illness and disability blog about it for numerous years! I can’t get anymore money for a few more years so I am stuck on an income so small that I barely can eat one meal a day.
I have a goal for a GoPro and am trying to crowdfund one after someone suggested I try. I made a JustGiving page for a GoPro although I don’t expect to get anything as I am a realist and I know it is unlikely. I don’t expect anything from anyone! But if you want to help, you can.
If I had a GoPro or Insta360, I could also use the footage for my travel blog posts such as travelogues, and video sharing sites such as YouTube and TikTok. I could make video travelogues too! I could make so much more content as well as make memories for the future.
Memories is something you can’t do once the time as gone, so make those memories while you can.
I actually sightsee from the car more than on foot because it is an accessibility aid as well, so there would be a lot of footage for me to look back on in future.
I don’t have an electric wheelchair that works on grass, gravel and uneven surfaces, so I can’t use that, and I can’t push myself in a manual wheelchair due to disability, so a rental car is my wheelchair where I sightsee on scenic drives or in scenic overlooks. I travel solo too so no one to help and I have no relatives alive.
So if I could record my drives and any walks, it would be hundreds of hours of footage to view in total which I could look back on when I can no longer travel in the future.
That is why I really want to get a camera such as a GoPro or Insta360 so that I can attach it to the car or myself to record the drives and walks. They have mounts for the car and chest so I would just attach it and record! They even make really cheap third party mounts. It is just the camera which is the most expensive part.
That day will come when I am no longer able to travel at all and I want to be able to look back with a smile and watch the footage from my vacations such as the long scenic drives and short walks I may take on my trips.
I want to make hardcopies of my memories so I can look back while bedbound, and you need video recording for that.
If you are wondering why do I travel blog if I have no money? As I mentioned, travel and nature are my passions and one day I won’t be able to even go outside let alone travel at all, purely because of my chronic illnesses that leave me disabled. One day in the future I will be bedbound 24 hours a day again, but on a permanent basis. I want to make and record memories before that happens.
I know that time will come so I want to travel while I physically still can as in say 7 years, I might not be able to travel at all. Who knows! I just know it is coming one day in the future and I want to do what I love before then.
That is why I am travel blogging even though I have little money. I still have a lot of advice from decades years of travelling, so I have lots of content I can make with the knowledge I have, plus I am still travelling, albeit much less often due to money.
If you do wish to support a disabled, chronically ill travel blogger, you can for FREE by sharing my blog and posts with your friends or you can tip me any amount you wish via Ko-Fi, using debit card, credit card or PayPal.
I also have a goal for a GoPro and am trying to crowdfund one after someone suggested I try. I made a JustGiving page for a GoPro although I don’t expect to get anything.
